The My Island photography exhibition will feature images of the many faces and places from one of Limerick’s oldest communities.

‘This (My Island) project has given the young people an opportunity to capture their world through their lens,’ said Michelle Manning, Limerick Youth Service.

Under the tutelage of renowned photographer Stephen Lappin, the young people learned about the art of photography, from shades of lighting, framing and angles to using the technology.

‘The young people are really looking forward to the exhibition and showcasing their community and reality to a wide audience,’ added Michelle, Youth Justice Worker.

Following the launch, the My Island photography exhibition will be in display for one week and can be accessed during regular opening hours.

For more information, please contact Michelle Manning at michelle.manning@limerickyouthservice.org or at 061-412444/083-4711099.

The young people are members of the King’s Island hub of the LYS Youth Diversion Project and the King’s Island & Surrounds Youth Project, that are both located at Nicholas St Youth Space.

The Youth Diversion Project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union with more information available at eufunds.ie.

The King’s Island & Surrounds Youth Project is one of six UBU Your Place Your Space youth work projects with LYS.

LYS is a member of Youth Work Ireland and the Irish Association of Community Training Organisations and remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.
