Fr. Seán Sexton, Late of Clare Youth Service

Fr. Seán Sexton RIP.

Limerick Youth Service would like to express its deepest sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Fr. Sean Sexton, late of Clare Youth Service and the Killaloe Diocese.

Fr. Seán was a key force behind the establishment of the then Clare Regional Youth Service in 1969 and became a key advocate in the development of youth work and dedicated youth centres.

Fr. Seán firmly believed that youth work, through volunteer led youth clubs and youth centres, gave young people the opportunity to flourish personally and socially as well as educationally.

A trusted friend of the late Sr. Joan Bowles, the founder of Limerick Youth Service, Fr. Sen was a key supporter in the establishment, development and growth of Limerick Youth Service.

The death of Fr. Seán will be felt across the youth work and further education communities where Fr. Seán’s commitment and vision shaped the lives of young people across Ireland, no more so than in the Midwest.

Limerick Youth Service would like to thank Fr. Seán for sharing his foresight, vision, passion, knowledge and friendship with his neighbouring county for fifty years.

Fr. Seán may rest in peace knowing youth organisations across the country will continue to honour his vision by engaging with and advocating for young people.
