Youth Council Launch Equality Projects
Limerick Comhairle na nÓg at Ormston House
Limerick Comhairle na nÓg will formally launch three projects that raise awareness of gender identity, equality and the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community at Ormston House, Patrick St, Limerick on Friday, October 7th at 7pm.
Led by young people with Limerick Comhairle na nÓg, the three projects include:
- A series of short bilingual education videos that will inform and support people in understanding the LGBTQIA+ terminology
- A documentary that celebrates the Limerick LGTBQIA+ community
- Details of two murals that celebrate gender equality and the voice of women. The murals are located in Moylish Road, Ballynanty and Island Road, King’s Island respectively.
- A discussion about an interactive workshop for young people and teachers on the theme of gender identity and understanding.

Limerick Comhairle na nÓg is one of thirty one youth councils nationwide which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
Supported by Limerick Youth Service and Limerick City & County Council, Limerick Comhairle na nÓg gives a voice to young people allowing them to influence government policy at a local and national level.
A member of Youth Work Ireland and the Irish Association of Community Training Centres, LYS remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.
