Parents/guardians of young people from 5th Class and up are invited to attend to register their children and learn more about the opportunities available for young people with Doon Youth Club.
Those in volunteering with the youth club are also invited to attend to learn more about the volunteer opportunities with LYS.
‘Youth clubs offer young people a space to chill out, spend time with friends and if they wish, take part in activities and programmes such as leadership training, variety shows and First Aid courses,’ said Edel Quinn, LYS.
A youth club in not just for young people though as they can provide great volunteering opportunities for adults who would like to gain experience working with young people or relive their childhood!
‘Volunteers are a central part of running youth club and we provide ongoing training and support,’ said Edel, ‘it is the diversity of volunteers that benefits the youth club and young people.’
Doon Youth Club will be for young people (10yrs+) and will meet weekly at the Doon Community Centre with the day and times to be finalised.
LYS currently supports over twenty youth clubs and has over fifty years’ experience in developing and supporting these ever-popular spaces.
