Cyberbullying Symposium at LYS

Limerick Youth Service will mark this year’s Internet Safety Day by hosting Empowering Young People’s Digital Safety, at its City Centre Youth Space, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 10/11th.

The two-day symposium will see youth workers and youth information officers from across Ireland and Europe explore the impact of cyberbullying, while developing the confidence and practical tools to prevent, identify and respond to harmful online behaviour.

Through keynote talks, panel discussions and interactive workshops, participants will discuss how to create safer online digital spaces while equipping youth workers and youth information officers with the skills to support young people in the digital space.

The symposium will include workshops from psychologist Dr. Maureen Griffin, MGMS Training, is a leading expert in social media and online an information session on online gaming with Paul Keating, Technological University of the Shannon.

Emma O’Donoghue & Dorothee Meyer-Holtkamp, Coimisiún na Meán will discuss a person’s online rights, while Meghmala, Mukherjee, Dublin City University, will host a workshop on growing up online and the challenges facing children and families.
