Alternative Education Pathways for Teenagers

Young people, parents and those who work with teenagers, are invited to an Open Day  at Limerick Youth Service’s Community Training Centre, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick on Thursday, April 18th from 10am-2pm.

Learners with the Catering Skills Course

The Open Day, which is a part of the Limerick Lifelong Learning Festival, is an opportunity to learn more about the alternative education and training pathways available for young people.

‘There are many further education and training courses available for young people and the Open Day is an opportunity to find our more,’ said Graham Quantrell, LYS.

‘On arrival visitors will be given a guided tour of our Community Training Centre and can speak with learners who will share experiences of their journey from school to LYS and their future plans,’ said Graham, LYS Advocate.

Instructors and teachers will be on site to speak about the courses – from a young person’s eligibility, the academic content, work experience, the support of staff and the availability to participate in extracurricular activities.

Visitors can have coffee or tea and enjoy a light-bite at the youth led Paradise Restaurant.
