Limerick Comhairle na nÓg is inviting young people (12-17yrs) to take part in this year’s AGM which will take place virtually on Thursday, November 25th (11am-1:30pm)
The AGM, which will be opened by the Mayor of Limerick, Cllr. Daniel Butler, is a great opportunity for young people to find out more about Comhairle na nÓg, speak with current and past members and take part in exciting online workshops.
Limerick Comhairle na nÓg is a youth council that advocates for young people, raise awareness of issues of importance to them and participate in the development of polices that are relevant to them.
‘Comhairle na nÓg gives young people a voice our local communities/areas and allows us to have a say in how to make them better,’ said Caitlin Guckian, Limerick Comhairle na nÓg.
In the past the youth council has tackled issues such as cyberbullying, mental wellbeing, youth homelessness and led the Not Around Us smoke free initiative for which it was awarded a United Nations World No Tobacco Day Award.
Caitlyn is extremely proud to be a member of Limerick Comhairle na nÓg and credits it with helping her to express and share her opinions.
‘When I first joined Comhairle na nÓg I didn’t know what to expect,’ said Caitlyn adding ‘I was a little shy and I didn’t know I had the ability to share my views and opinions them.
‘Now I’m a completely different person! I never shy away from sharing my opinion, voicing my thoughts and being myself,’ said Caitlyn.
‘Comhairle na nÓg has played such a huge part in my life. I’ve made lifelong friends, met some of the most amazing people and I am proud to be a member!’ smiled Caitlyn.
A student at Gaelcoliste Lumnigh, Caitlyn is encouraging teenagers who want to make a difference in their community and shape their future to attend this year’s AGM and find out more about Comhairle na nÓg.

Limerick Comhairle na nÓg is one of thirty one youth councils nationwide which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
Supported by Limerick Youth Service and Limerick City & County Council, Limerick Comhairle na nÓg gives a voice to young people allowing them to influence government policy at a local and national level.
