Castletroy Youth Club Info Day

youth-clubCastletroy Youth Club is inviting young people and adults to Open Day at Castletroy Shopping Centre on Saturday, September 15th (10am-4pm).

Run in partnership with Limerick Youth Service, the Open Day is a great opportunity for people to learn about the local youth club and the many opportunities for young people and adults.

Members of Castletroy Youth Club and staff from LYS will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the variety of activities that take place at the youth club including dodgeball, variety shows, discos and lots more.

‘Youth clubs offer young people a space to chill out, spend time with friends and if they wish, participate in activities and programmes such as Leadership Training, personal development and First Aid,’ said Mary Duhig, LYS.

‘Attending a youth club can have great social benefits for a young person especially those who may be a little shy or quiet,’ said Mary.

A youth club in not just for young people though as they can provide great volunteering opportunities for adults who would like to gain experience working with young people or relive their childhood!

‘Volunteers are a central part of running youth club and we provide ongoing training and support,’ said Mary adding ‘it is the diversity of volunteers that benefits the youth club and young people.’

Castletroy Youth Club is open to young people (10-16yrs) from the Ahane, Annacotty, Castletroy, Lisnagry and Monaleen areas of Limerick and meets every Friday evening at the Daughters of Charity, Lisnagry with new members always welcome.

LYS currently supports close to 30 youth clubs and has over 40 years’ experience in developing and supporting these ever popular spaces.
