Comhairle na nÓg to Host Youth Conference

Limerick Comhairle na nÓg will host its annual Youth Conference at Istabraq Hall, Limerick City & County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick on Thursday, November 30th from 9:30-2:30pm and inviting young people to take part.

The Youth Conference  is a great opportunity for young people (14-17yrs) to find out more about Comhairle na nÓg, voice their opinions of issues that are important to them and, if they wish, become a member.

The Youth Conference will be opened by the Mayor of the City & County of Limerick, Cllr.  Gerald Mitchell and will include an overview of Comhairle nan Óg, information sessions and interactive workshops.

Limerick Comhairle na nÓg is a youth council that advocates for young people, raise awareness of issues of importance to them and participate in the development of polices that are relevant to them.

Supported by Limerick Youth Service (LYS) and Limerick City & County Council, Limerick Comhairle na nÓg gives a voice to young people allowing them to influence government policy at a local and national level.

In the past Comhairle na nÓg has addressed issues such as gender equality, youth homelessness, living in the Direct Provision system, cyberbullying and the teaching of sexual education in the secondary schools.

Now in its 50th year, LYS remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.

LYS is a member of Youth Work Ireland and the Irish Association of Community Training Organisations.
