Speaking at the launch a busy Robert McCarthney said ‘the birth of the new Community Garden came about after conversations between young people and local community groups who were keen to develop a allotments.’

‘Many of the young people have an interest in gardening and horticulture and this is an exciting opportunity for them, their families and community to learn more about gardening, enjoy the outdoors and meet each other,’ said Robert, Youth Worker, LYS Youth Diversion Project.

Robert was keen to thank the young people, locals and community groups for working together to create the Garryowen Community Garden.

‘They’ve all been excellent, particularly the young people who have committed a great amount of the their free time to getting the project over the line,’ said Rob.
