Solidarity & Fairness for European Youth Week

Young people with Limerick Youth Service will join their peers across Europe as they celebrate this year’s European Youth Week 2026, a bi-annual celebration that promotes youth engagement, participation and active citizenship.

Taking place from Monday, April 27th to Sunday, May 3rd this year’s themes, Solidarity and Fairness, encourages young people to take part in civic life, explore new opportunities through European Union programmes and build friendships.

Throughout the week, LYS will have several programmes and events that will bring young people, local representatives and the community together to learn more about the role of the European Union and the many opportunities available across the continent.

One of the highlights of the week will be Our Voice Our Europe will take place at the Northside Youth Space, Ballynanty, Limerick on Friday, May 8th from 12-pm.  The event will celebrate the themes Solidarity and Fairness and include creative workshops and an opportunity to meet local representatives and decision-makers.

Other highlights include a Discover Europe information session that will take place at locations across Limerick and online.

Discover Europe will showcase opportunities such as the Discover EU programme and the European Solidarity Corps

Discover EU gives 18 years old the opportunity to travel Europe by rail while the European Solidarity Corp supports young adults (18-30yrs) to volunteer in community and youth organisations.

Established in 2003, European Youth Week is organised by the European Commission to build solidarity and friendship across Europe and promote the many opportunities available to young people.
