Deputy Mayor to Launch 50th Celebrations

The Deputy Mayor of Limerick Cllr. Kieran O’Hanlon, will formally launch Limerick Youth Service’s 50th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday, January 18th at LYS’ Community Training Centre, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick at 11am.

As part of the launch Mayor Foley will highlight some of the many events planned including the launch of Limerick Youth Service’s new Strategic Plan and an app for youth club volunteers in March.

Limerick Youth Service was established in 1973 when the late Sr. Joan Bowles and a group of visionaries opened a youth space in Rutland St, Limerick.  Since then, over 1.2million young people have been a part of Limerick Youth Service through youth clubs, training courses, advocacy campaigns and more.

Limerick Youth Service is also keen to hear from its alumni with people who were members of its youth clubs, Community Training Centre or youth cafes asked to share their experiences of their time with the youth organisation.
