Busy Times in East Limerick

It has been a busy period for Limerick Youth Service’s East Limerick youth work team who have been taking part in a variety of activities and programmes over the past number of months such as kayaking, bike trips on the Shannon and treasure hunts in Limerick City.

The young people took part in ‘artist in residency programme’ with Limerick & Clare Education & Training Board, where young people took part in art and music project with some of Ireland’s leading artists, such as Julieann Hennelly.

As part of the art programme, the young people from East Limerick teamed up with their peers from LYS’ Diversity & Youth Group and took part in an array of exciting workshops including outdoor yoga and music at the People’s Part in November 2020.

In recent weeks, the East Limerick team have been gone online taking part in workshops as diverse as making facemasks and stress balls to building birdfeeders and learning the ukulele with a fishing project and book club all planned for the springtime.

LYS’ East Limerick UBU Youth Work project is located at the Shannon House, Main St, Castleconnell and engages with young people in Cappamore, Caherconlish, Doon and other communities in the Ballyhorua Region.

The East Limerick UBU Youth Work Project is part funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth and the National Lottery.
