Top Marks for LCA Class of 2026

There were celebrations galore at Limerick Youth Service (LYS) on Friday last, August 21st as learners joined their peers nationwide as they received their Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) results.

The learners, who spent two years studying the LCA at the LYS Community Training Centre, saw their hard work rewarded with excellent results that saw learners earn top marks.

The LCA is a two-year programme that meets the needs of students who prefer the practical and continuous assessment approach in contrast to that of the ‘mainstream’ Leaving Certificate.

Among the young people to receive their results was Elise Campbell who was delighted when she opened the envelope!

‘I am very happy with my results and would like to thank all the staff for their support and guidance for the past two years,’ said Elise, whose journey will take her to the College of FET’s Killmallock Road Campus where she will study Applied Science (Laboratory Skills) Programme.

John Doyle was another learner who was delighted with his results with the young man from Pallaskenry progressing to study at the National Learning Network, Raheen.

John enrolled a learner with the Catering Skills Course at the LYS Community Training Centre and then transferring to the LCA where he received top marks.

‘I’ve really enjoyed my time here (Community Training Centre) and would like to thank the staff for their support and for believing in me,’ said John.

John’s relationship with LYS is far from over as he is a committee member with the Lava Javas Youth Café, a role he cherishes and looks forward to every week.

The Leaving Certificate Applied Coordinator Noreen Murphy was delighted with the results saying ‘we are beyond happy.’

‘They were an amazing group of young people and all their Distinctions and Merits are very well deserved,’ beamed a delighted Noreen.

‘The LCA Class of 2026 contributed with enthusiasm and passion to various extra-curricular activities such as coffee mornings and charity fundraisers,’ said Noreen adding ‘they have been a joy to work and have grown so much and have given so much back in return.’

‘Individually and as a group , everyone in LYS will really miss them but we are all looking forward to the next part of their journey,’ said Noreen.

LYS would like to congratulate the LCA Class of 2026: Martin Casey, Elise Campbell, John Doyle, Amber Foran, Javier Grandi, Ladislav Makula, Daithi Murnane,  Ruby Mc Namara, Sophie O’Brien and Holly O Keeffe

The LCA is part of the further education and training curriculum delivered at the LYS Community Training Centre, Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick with the support of the Limerick & Clare Education & Training Board.

A member of Youth Work Ireland and the Irish Association of Community Training Centres, LYS remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.
