Coffee Morning for Milford

Learners with Limerick Youth Service (LYS) raised funds for Milford Care Centre recently as they hosted a coffee morning as part of the nationwide Big Social Coffee Morning for Hospice campaign.

Held at LYS’ Community Training Centre, the coffee morning was a great success with over €2,100 raised for Milford Care Centre.

‘the young people did a great job and should be very proud of themselves’

The total of €2,114.58 included €349 that was raised as part of a Plastic Bottle Return Scheme, that is very popular among the young people, patrons and neighbouring businesses and organisations.

‘The coffee morning a great success and a great example of integrated youth organisation at work,’ said Shelia Walsh, LYS Instructor, who was full of praise for the young people.

‘From baking cakes and buns, serving customers, promoting the event and holding a raffle, the young people did a great job and should be very proud of themselves,’ said Shelia.

Shelia thanked patrons and the public for their generosity in supporting the coffee morning and is looking forward to welcoming them back to the Community Training Centre soon.

Kathryn Clancy, Manager of the LYS’ Community Training Centre echoed Shelia’s words and thanked the leaners with the Bakery Skills Class, Catering Course and Leaving Certificate Applied class, for their support of the coffee morning.
