Northside Lights Up

The Northside Youth Space lights up

The windows of the Northside Youth Space lit up with silhouettes throughout December as young people from Limerick Youth Service displayed their amazing artwork.

The silhouettes were part of a creative arts programme with artist Enda Griffin that proved really popular with the young people.

As part of the creative arts programme the teenagers, who are members of Steps Youth Café, also created their own portraits in addition to the silhouettes.

These portraits are on display in the Northside Youth Space while the young people were presented with their own framed copies to take home,’ said Stacey.

‘They really enjoyed the art programme with Enda as it was something different and didn’t feel like a typical art class in school,’ said Stacey Lyons, LYS.

‘Through games and a trick or two, Enda got everyone involved,’ said Stacey adding ‘before they knew it they were playing games through drawing and then posing for the shadows too- it was all pretty cool!

Stacey congratulated the young people on their artwork with a special word of thanks for Enda and the National Youth Council of Ireland who supported the programme through their artist in residency initiative.
