Youthpass for SHAMs

Youthpass for SHAMs

Members of Limerick Youth Service who received their Youthpasses at the Northside Youth Space

Young people who participated in the SHAM youth exchange with Limerick Youth Service were presented with their EU Youthpass Certificates at the Northside Youth Space during the recent YELL Yhdessä youth exchange.

SHAM (Space Helps our Attitude & Mental Health) was a two part programme that was run in partnership with the Maltese youth organisation Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Léargas over a two year period.

The international youth work programme focused on the role physical and personal space can have a young person’s mental wellbeing with young people from across Limerick City and County taking part.

Welcoming the familiar faces LYS’ Priscilla Sheehan said ‘it is great to see you all again and share some of the stories of what was an unforgettable experience.’

‘It is also great that our reunion and presentation evening should take place during another youth exchange (YELL Yhdessa) which shows the important role of international youth work with LYS,’ said Priscilla.

As the young people were presented with their Youthpass Priscilla said ‘we’re delighted to see that many of you still involved with LYS, some as junior leaders and others as volunteers.’

The participants were members of a number of LYS groups/projects including the Northside Youth Space, Limerick Comhairle na nÓg, Rathkeale Youth Space, Irishtown Garda Youth Diversion Project and Ballingarry Youth Club to name but a few.

The EU Youthpass is a European recognition tool for non-formal learning in youth work where participants can describe what they have done and show what they have learnt.

A member of Youth Work Ireland, LYS remains committed to connecting with young people and supporting them to reach their full potential.
