Sharing Ghostly Tales
Orienteering, kayaking, rock climbing, archery and abseiling- it has been a busy start to the summer for young people in Castleconnell.
The teenagers, who are members of Limerick Youth Service’s Castleconnell youth groups, have also enjoyed a trip to Kilkee, football at The Factory Southside Youth Space and an overnight in Kippure, Co. Wicklow.
In Wicklow the young people put their smart phones away and enjoyed nature as they explored the trails and hills of Ireland’s Garden County.
‘It’s been a great summer so far with the trip the Garden of Ireland one of the many highlights,’ said David O’Connor, Youth Justice Worker, LYS.
‘Kippure was excellent with the young people and staff taking part in a host of activities, including archery,’ said David, adding with a smile ‘though I don’t I trust them to shoot an apple on my head just yet’
As temperatures soared across the Emerald Isle, the crew from East Limerick camped beneath the constellations where they shared ghostly tales of Ireland’s fabled past.
Away from ghost stories, the team in Castleconnell have plenty more adventures planned for the summer months with David saying ‘watch this space!’
The young people are members of Castleconnell Youth Project and LYS’ Garda Youth Diversion Project.

Castleconnell Youth Project is based at the ACM Centre, Main St, Castleconnell and provide youth work programmes, activities and information for young people.
