Lava Javas Youth Café will hold a special Green Ribbon themed evening to mark Mental Health Awareness Month on Friday next, May 25th (5:30pm).
The event will feature a special mental health themed fashion show, music, a raffle and a self-care station with tips & information on how to look after your mental wellbeing.
The fashion show will see young people walk the catwalk wearing clothes that reflect their emotions and how they are feeling.
‘The clothes we wear can show people how we are feeling for example, black is associated with death and white with weddings,’ explained Vicki Augustnyska, Lava Javas Youth Committee.
It is this analogy that the young people at Lava Javas will showcase on the night as they model clothes that show their feelings.
‘The evening is open to teenagers (14-19yrs) & aims to break the stigma of mental health and allow us to feel comfortable talking about it,’ said Vicki.
Lava Javas Youth Cafe is located at 5 Lr. Glentworth St, Limerick and is one of several youth cafes run by LYS.
A member of Youth Work Ireland, LYS remains committed to connecting with and supporting young people to reach their full potential.
